INTRODUCTION TRAINING

Hi!
Which days are the trainings? What time do they start?
We just got a new track, and you can all come enjoy this in September at our open trainings! We train on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 18 till 20h at the blue track next to the Bongerd. We gather at the werf building, this is located at the side of steeple chase water box (see the attached photo). Please be on time as we really start around 18h with our warming up!
Do you have open trainings?
Yes! In September we have our open trainings, which will likely result in bigger groups than normally. Therefore, we have made a schedule for which disciplines we will train for every training. This way we can ensure that there are people with experience present, so it is no problem at all if you haven’t done athletics before! Every training there will be running, sprinting, throwing and jumping, so you can still choose from quite a lot. We have attached the schedule down below.
What do the trainings normally look like?
Our trainings take place on Tuesdays and Thursdays. They start at 6 pm and end around +/- 8 pm (so our trainings are 2 hours). It begins with a short talk form the board with announcements. After that, we will start the warming up run of approximately 15 minutes around Campus. The technical group (sprinters, throwers and jumpers) have their own warming up lap. For the running groups there are multiple groups that will give you the opportunity to try out the different tempos and distances. After the warming up run we come back to the track and do about 45 minutes of core stability and running drills. After that we will do 1 hour of technical training (for the technical group) or running a schedule (if you join the running group).
What disciplines can I do?
At Tartlétos we offer every discipline from running to hammer throw, so it’s up to you what you want to do! We do have a special schedule during September for the technical group, but the rest of the year you can choose every discipline you like. You are not ‘stuck’ to anything and each training you are free to join a group. So, whether you want to specialize only in high jump, want to combine sprinting with shot put, train for a decathlon or join the running group and enjoy a technical training every once in a while; everything is possible!
Should I sign up for a training?
No! you can just come by and join us at 18h on the track. There is no need to mail us for letting us know that you are coming, we’ll see you appear 😊
What if I miss the (open) training?
No problem at all! You can join Tartlétos every moment of the year. In September our trainings are free the whole month, but during the rest of the year you can still try our trainings three times for free. You can also choose how often to want to train, so don’t worry if you miss a training sometimes.
Help, I don’t want to run the running schedule alone. Are there other people I can run with?
Part of our running trainings on Tuesdays and Thursdays consists of interval training, which we usually run on the track of the Bongerd. Of course, it’s a lot more fun to do such trainings with other people rather than alone. If you are interested in finding new training mates, then please come to our trainer Kris after the warming up exercises. We have quite a big running group for all different distances and tempos, so we are more than happy to help you find a group to run with!
What do I have to take with me when I’m coming to a training?
You do need your sportswear, good running shoes, a bottle of water, a bit of food (after training you’ll be very hungry). Sunglasses might be handy if it is a sunny evening. And if you have spikes you can of course take them, but it is not necessary. We would also advise to take some warm clothes with you, because when the sun goes down the temperature also does 😉
Are there also social activities which I can join?
Besides trainings, we also organize some fun activities! In September our activities are also open for new members to check it out (the activity schedule is also attached). If you want to join a few social activities like dinners, having drinks together and much more you can join a mentor group. The mentor will keep you up to date about the when and where of our activities and this way you can already make some friends quite easily.
If you do not want to join a mentor group, you can still join the activities. Send an email to tartletos@wur.nl if you want to join or fill in the form during trainings.
Can I join competitions as well? On September 7th we go to NSK teams!
Yes! With Tartlétos we join the nationally organized competitions from April to June with our men’s and women’s teams. We are also present at every NSK during the year. There are 8 ranging from NSK cross country to NSK decathlon. On our own track in Wageningen we also organize 4 track meetings in a year. These are always on Friday evenings and there is still one left on September 20th. To join competitions, you will need to subscribe for a competition license at Atletiekunie (Dutch Athletics Union).
What to do when I decided that I would like to be a member? Yay!
You can approach one of the board members on the training to get a registration form. You can bring the form with you the next training to return the filled in form to one of the board members. You can also find the form on our website (https://tartletos.nl/lid-worden/) and email it back to us.
A membership for Tartlétos costs 36 euros per year. This will be inned during the year, so you do not have to pay immediately. On top of that you need a subscription from the Atletiekunie, which is the national athletics federation and costs 18.50 euro or 43 euro (to join competitions). To participate in competitions, track meetings and NSK you will need the membership of 43 euro. To become member of Tartlétos, you also need to have student sports rights from de Bongerd.
Who should I approach when I still have questions?
You can approach the board before, during or after the training. They are wearing a dark blue t-shirt with white letters, so they are recognisable. They will also give a little talk at the beginning of the training session! You can also follow us on Instagram @tartletos or send us an email.
