On Wednesday 3 April it was time for the seventh edition of the Campus Run on the Wageningen Campus. With more than 400 participants, it was the largest Campus Run to date! Dry weather and a temperature of around 10 degrees offered excellent running weather for the many participants. At 18:45 the starting signal was given for both the 2.5 and 5 kilometers. The fastest runners in the 5 kilometers could qualify for the university team of the Batavieren race, resulting in a fierce battle. However, none of the men could compete with Roel Kox who finished in little over 16 minutes, followed by Wout Hendriks in 16:49 and Daniel Rijo in 16:54. In the women’s race, former Tartleet Evelien de Weert passed the finish in a time of 19:34, the second place was for Aniek Lith in 19:50 and the third place for Hester Koning in 20:01.
Not only was Tartlétos represented on the 5 kilometers, two Tartleets represented Tartlétos on the winners stage at the 2.5 kilometers race. Anouk Eijkelboom was first among the women in 10:29, second place was for Elke van Burgsteden in 11:33 and number three was Tartleet Celia Juan Garcia-Milà in 12:54. Among the men, Koen Molenaar won with a one-minute difference on the number two with a time of 11:36, second was Soufiane El Kuinifri (12:45) and the third place was for Thijs Westera in 12:55. There were not only people who came to win, but there were many runners who participated for fun in colourful outfits and even someone who was pushed in a shopping cart because a broken leg prevented him from running.
All in all it was again a successful edition of the Campus Run. It wouldn’t have been possible without the runners, the volunteers, the sponsors, Tartlétos and the help of citizen athletics association Pallas. Tartlétos will now first focus our eyes on the Batavieren race where not only many Tartleets participate in the university team but Tarltétos also has its own team. After the Batavieren race the plans will start for next year’s Campus Run!
