It seemed like last Sunday was going to be as hot again as the first competition match, but this time we were prepared for the heat. It was going to be an exciting match, because the men needed to get out of the degradation zone.
We drove to Arnhem with four full cars. When we arrived, we were fortunately able to claim a spot with a lot of shadow. The swimmingpool was quickly filled and the competition could begin. Thaem Mous started with the 3000m steeple. He went with the leading group and ran 10.07,66. Jelle ten Harkel started with javelin throwing, where he threw 30m for the first time. Wouter Lokhorst tried to improve this in the second group and threw 24,16 which is a PB. Jonas Pannevis, Flip Breuer, Laurelynn Cornfield and Joana Vitorino did the 100m. Joana and Jonas reached the finish faster than they ever did for Tartlétos. Maaike de Kreek did the 800m and finished in 2.29.57 minutes. Tessa Kramer, our Pole vault specialist jumped 2.10 with the new pole, almost a PB. Linda van de Lagemaat was perhaps the busiest of everyone. She did long jump, high jump and shot put for the team. Freek Zuiderhoek had only been a member of Tartlétos for 4 days when the match started. Yet he almost reached the 9 meter mark . Unfortunately he didn’t get the points, Jelger Elings reached 10.43. Olivier Klijn did his best with high jump and reach 1.90. Dorien Konig always performs well with this warm weather and ran, like the previous match, a big PB of 63.30. Francesca Marcato was close and ran 66.09. Maarten van Doornik and Joran de Bie did the 400 for the men’s team . Maarten took the points in a time of 55.11 and Joran ran a PB (60.69). It was time to put the hordles in the lanes and Judith de Heer could start her 400mh. She ran 67.80 in a fast heat. Jonas followed and did the 400m hurdles in high speed. He needed only 54.76 seconds and broke his own club record. Cristina Saladrich Català was the hero of the day because she ran the 800m and 3000m. This went very smoothly with 2.25,37 and 11.32,24. The 200m was on the program for Arjen Venema, but in 26.01 seconds it was already over. Koen Jansen and Roel Kox started with the last individual race, the 1500. After an exciting race Roel ran a PR and Koen almost. The day ended with the 4 * 100 for the Women and Men. Dorien, Joana, Judith and Tessa ran 51.21 in the first heat a club record. Jonas, Jelger, Jelle and Koen ran a neat race. They crossed the finish line in 45.55. The traditional group photo was quickly made and everyone started to pack. Before we went back to the cars everyone ordered Pizza. An hour later we were eating pizza in the Trimsalon. In no time they were all gone and it was time to throw the boxes into the campfire. The day ended with a good feeling and marshmallows.
After 2 matches the women are on the 15th place and the men on the 30th place in the 2nd division. With only one game to go, both teams are out the degradation zone!
